The SeniorDelivery Manager plays a key role within the Optus Data Office, owning the end-to-end delivery of data transformation and modernisation initiatives. Reporting to the Director – Data Solutions, this role is responsible for driving complex projects to achieve strategic customer experience outcomes and financial benefits, ensuring delivery is on time and within budget.
Success in this role requires a blend of strong technical knowledge and commercial competence, with proven experience managing cross-functional projects in dynamic environments. The Senior Delivery Manager must confidently navigate stakeholder expectations, coordinate change management and operational transition, and ensure all aspects of delivery—from technical execution to business integration—are aligned to strategic outcomes.
Your day in the life of a Senior Delivery Manager at Optus
* End-to-End Project Management: Define project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and quality benchmarks to deliver successful outcomes aligned with business goals.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain excellent relationships with SLT, initiative sponsors, and business units to align project outcomes with strategic priorities.
* Customer Experience Delivery: Ensure customer experience objectives are embedded and achieved across all project stages.
* Risk and Issue Management: Identify, assess, and manage project risks to maintain delivery continuity and mitigate impacts.
* Team Collaboration and Leadership: Foster project teamwork, support peers, and contribute effectively within a complex matrix environment.
* Continuous Improvement: Promote innovation, proactive problem solving, and a dedication to quality through open communication and knowledge sharing.
Your skills to pay the bills
* Tertiary qualification in Business, IT, Engineering, or a related field, complemented by professional certifications such as PMP or Prince2.
* Demonstrated ability in managing capital projects in IT/Telecommunications or Financial Services, with a proven record on large, complex data projects and large initiative budgets.
* Demonstrated success in managing and developing delivery teams of 10+ resources in a matrix reporting environment, with strong coaching and mentoring skills.
* Proven experience in on-premise to cloud migrations (including SaaS) and delivering projects using Agile/Iterative methodologies.
* Ability to operate autonomously in dynamic environments, effectively addressing ambiguity and responding to unforeseen challenges.
* Extensive experience in contract management, commercial business case modelling, and system integration technical consulting.
