About The Role
Ventia is seeking to employ a Range Caretaker / Farmhand to join our team based at the Stonyhead Training Area near Beechford, Tasmania. This is a hands‐on role focused on maintaining infrastructure, managing land and fire risks and ensuring operational readiness across the Military Training Area. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to national Defence capability in a dynamic environment.
The successful candidates will ensure the Training Area is maintained to support Military Training programs and therefore support the operational readiness of Australia's professional Defence personnel.

Key Responsibilities Include
* Maintenance and repairs of infrastructure.
* Land management such as spraying, slashing & fence repairs.
* Conducting building inspections, audits, and data recording.
* Coordinating and ensuring subcontractors satisfy all protocols prior to arriving on site, when on site and upon exiting the premises.
* Administering arrival and departure inspections and tasks of all Defence personnel and visitors.
* Delivering briefings and ensuring operational readiness of all participants before training exercises.
* Ensuring adherence to Range Standing Orders and reporting any breaches
* Manufacturing and repairing training collateral used in the Training Area. (This excludes military equipment).
Your Skills And Experience
You must have the following with substantial experience at the time of applying:
* Previous farm or agricultural experience
* Able to work independently and take initiative
* Previous experience operating tractors and heavy machinery
* Manual driver's licence
* MR and / or HR vehicle licence
* Experience with fence repairs etc
* Experience using hand tools such as chainsaws
* Certificate in Senior First Aid
* Ability to navigate using maps.
* Radio communications proficiency
* Basic computer skills
The Following Are Considered Desirable
* Experience in land management
* Experience in Defence training areas
* Experience with firefighting coordination and actual bush firefighting
The Following Is Considered Highly Desirable
* Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management
What You Need To Know Before Applying
* The successful applicant must: be an Australian Citizen, be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance and be willing to undertake and maintain a satisfactory Australian Federal Police Check.
* Use of the company vehicle, fuel card, mobile phone and laptop is for work purposes only.
* You must be available for occasional weekend when required.
* The line manager for this role is based at the Puckapunyal Army Base, Victoria. Therefore, you will exhibit the highest work ethic, integrity and transparency in the discharge of your duties.
