The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its Finance team and support the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting across the organisation. Reporting to the Manager Finance, this role plays a key part in maintaining strong balance sheet integrity, meeting legislated reporting requirements, and providing reliable financial information to support informed decision-making. About the Role

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its Finance team and support the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting across the organisation.

Reporting to the Manager Finance, this role plays a key part in maintaining strong balance sheet integrity, meeting legislated reporting requirements, and providing reliable financial information to support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

* Assisting with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
* Ensuring balance sheet reconciliations and subsidiary ledgers reconcile to the general ledger
* Supporting month-end processes and legislated reporting deadlines
* Reviewing financial position with allocated Managers and providing forecasting insights
* Managing activity-based costing, plant recovery and labour overheads
* Assisting with annual budget, budget review and financial statement preparation
* Supporting audit processes and liaising with external auditors
* Reviewing the City's investment portfolio in accordance with the Investment Policy
* Providing management and financial reporting to Committees
* Managing grant compliance, reporting and acquittals
* Experience with GST and statutory reporting
About You
You will be a motivated accounting professional with strong technical and analytical skills. You will bring:
* A degree in Accounting/Commerce or Diploma in a related discipline (or working towards)
* Knowledge of Local Government accounting and AAS 27
* Strong systems, communication and time management skills
* Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively with stakeholders
