Rays Pizza Joint is seeking a Head Chef to take full ownership of the kitchen and lead standards, consistency and food quality.
This is a hands on leadership role suited to a Head Chef who values structure, accountability and execution, while also having the opportunity to improve and evolve the menu over time.
In addition to running Rays Pizza Joint, the role will support food preparation for our cafe business Rex & Friends. Prep is currently completed at Rays, with opportunities to expand into additional fresh food offerings and grab and go items as systems and standards are established.
Your initial focus will be on lifting consistency, presentation, cleaning and food safety. As the kitchen stabilises, you will work with ownership to improve the menu and grow food sales across both venues.
Key responsibilities
• Full responsibility for the Rays Pizza Joint kitchen
• Lead, train and supervise kitchen staff
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and compliance standards
• Enforce cleaning, prep and closing procedures
• Oversee food preparation that supports Rex & Friends
• Develop and maintain simple, repeatable food systems
• Contribute creatively to menu improvements and new food offerings
• Work with ownership to grow food sales while maintaining consistency
• Manage stock, ordering, food costs, margins and wastage in line with agreed budgets
• Ensure equipment issues are reported and resolved
