Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub‑regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire.
CGH is located in the City of Sale, 215 km east of Melbourne. The City of Sale is an ideal access point for the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach and the Victorian Alps.

CGH also provides aged care and community services in the Wellington Shire and beyond.
We operate four residential aged care homes located in Sale, Maffra and Heyfield delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care in supportive and homelike environments.
CGH provides a wide range of community‑based services that support people to remain healthy, active and independent in their own homes. This includes the provision of Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs and other in‑home services tailored to individual needs.
Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.

About the Role
The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (MCCN) is a registered nurse who applies expert knowledge and leadership to optimise patient health and well‑being across the continuum of cancer care, reflecting the McGrath Model of Care. This advanced knowledge is based on an in‑depth understanding of theory and research relevant to oncology nursing. The MCCN incorporates expertise in supportive care, specialised and tailored information and education, psychological support, liaison and clinical care.
The MCCN adapts practice to the specific and changing needs of individuals, considering their multiple health needs, concerns and care preferences. The MCCN facilitates the spectrum of cancer care at different phases of the journey, care settings, care plans and care providers.
Duties
Provide specialised and relevant care, information, education and support to clients with cancer in accordance with evidence‑based clinical practice guidelines and the McGrath Model of Care.
Collaborate and actively participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams and relevant community service providers to coordinate delivery of client‑oriented, specialised support services across the care continuum for clients and their families.
Provide expert clinical advice and leadership on evidence‑based cancer care services to nursing staff, allied health and other health providers involved in patients' care.
Communicate effectively with other members of the health care team to facilitate efficient, timely and comprehensive assessment and identification of emotional, psychological, physical and practical needs of patients with cancer, their families and/or carers.
Coordinate the patient's treatment journey ensuring that key elements of care occur in an ordered and timely manner and that information is collected and available to support appropriate treatment decisions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Minimum of 5 years full‑time equivalent post‑registration experience as a registered nurse with at least 3 years recent full‑time equivalent experience in Oncology, Cancer Stream Specific Nursing – GI, or Palliative Care.
Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrate high level of critical thinking and assessment skills.
Demonstrate high level of interpersonal communication and organisational skills.
