About the Opportunity
As the Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will oversee the electrical design of vessels from initial concept through to final delivery—ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards for Austal Defence Australia. You will lead and mentor a team of engineers, setting clear objectives, tracking progress against key milestones, and fostering professional development to drive team performance and innovation.

Driving compliance and design integrity
Managing project milestones and deliverables
Coordinating third-party inputs
Leading and mentoring design team
You'll Need
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent
Solid understanding of LV & ELV power generation and distribution
Expertise in electrical engineering calculations such as short circuit, battery calculations
Advanced AutoCAD skills
Solid understanding of production methods and practical application of design
Basic understanding of typical ship mechanical systems and their interface with electrical systems
Knowledge of regulatory body rules and regulation requirements
10+ years experience in a similar role
