Ronald McDonald House North Australia is a vibrant, busy organisation with a mission to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families and promote healing when children need healthcare. We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation, part of a global charity with a highly collaborative federated structure in Australia. Our services operate 365 days of the year.

Our House plays a vital role in keeping families close during times of significant stress and uncertainty, offering a supportive environment where they can connect with others facing similar challenges. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide invaluable care and comfort to the families who stay with us.

We are seeking a full‐time Operations Support Officer to join our Townsville House team, working Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the day‐to‐day operational delivery of our Townsville‐based programs. You will bring strong organisational skills, exceptional customer service, and clear, confident communication to a position that directly contributes to delivering high‐quality program experiences for families.

Key responsibilities:

* Coordinate and deliver day‐to‐day operations for the Townsville House, Family Room and Hospitality Cart.
* Manage planned and reactive maintenance, contractor access, induction, and compliance documentation.
* Oversee stock management, ordering, storage organisation, and cleaning contractor performance.
* Implement and maintain Ronald McDonald House Quality Standards across all Townsville programs.
* Ensure adherence to child safety requirements and escalate risks or issues promptly.
* Manage volunteer rostering, onboarding, inductions, and operational compliance.
* Maintain accurate volunteer records and support recruitment to ensure service continuity.
* Support volunteer engagement and recognition initiatives, including local events and annual celebrations.
* Escalate performance or behavioural concerns to the Programs Lead.
* Maintain responsive and professional communication with hospital partners and community stakeholders.
* Coordinate guest feedback collection and respond to family concerns in a timely and respectful manner.
* Execute Safety of Children and Young People (SCYP) requirements and uphold child-safe standards.
* Identify and document hazards, incidents, and support incident investigations.
* Conduct stocktakes, maintain inventory levels, and support reporting requirements.

Key Selection Criteria:

* Experience in operational coordination within a community services, accommodation, health, hospitality, or similar environment.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs or service areas simultaneously, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Experience coordinating and supporting volunteers or staff, including onboarding, compliance, and rostering.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage families, hospital partners, community stakeholders, and volunteers.
* Proven ability to manage incidents, risks, and compliance requirements, including WHS processes.
* Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and escalate appropriately.
* Proficiency in administrative systems, record‐keeping and digital tools (e.g., rostering systems).
* Flexibility to participate in after-hours/on-call support, and adapt to changing program needs.
* Current Working with Children Check and National Criminal Check, or willingness to obtain.
