The Role & The Team
As ATM Director, you will be accountable for the ATM Operating Environment within Australia. This includes accountability for Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth Air Traffic Services Centres and 29 Air Traffic Control Towers staffed by approximately operational employees. The ATM Director manages key relationships with Heads, Network Operations Manager, Line Leaders, Shift Managers and System Supervisors, Towers within the relevant and associated Service Delivery lines.
The ATM Director holds Operational Command Authority (OCA) across Australian flight regions and the remaining airspace that Australia has been charged to administer. This includes the management and notification of Immediately Reportable Matters (IRM) to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) and to internal Airservices stakeholders and CASA licensing delegations.
Experience & Qualifications
* Planning and tactical aviation network management.
* Extensive experience in a complex operational control centre or as a specialised Duty Manager within a highly regulated, safety‑focused environment (e.g. Mining, Transport).
* Demonstrated communication, liaison, leadership, and management skills which will support, motivate, and influence others in the achievement of goals and objectives.
* Demonstrated business skills, including in the areas of safety / risk management.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, concise briefings and input to senior management, executives, airline customers, and industry stakeholders.

Security Clearance
To be eligible to apply, you must be an Australian Citizen or a Permanent resident as an ASIC is required for this role. Please refer to the security check requirements successful applicants will be required to undertake as part of the recruitment process. Over the next few years, Airservices will be introducing new technology and systems (including the Civil Military Air Traffic Management System (CMATS)) which may result in some positions needing to obtain a National Security Clearance in accordance with the Australian Government's Protective Security Policy Framework.
