Mental Health Registered Nurses are an important role to our Health Centres. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of medical and allied health professionals on site to contribute to positive mental health outcomes for the Australian Defence Force personnel at Lavarack Health Centre. This role is currently casual, with shifts Monday to Friday weekly 7:30am - 4pm.
As a Mental Health Registered Nurse, you'll make a positive impact by:
* Performing intake assessments and risk assessments
* Providing crisis intervention
* Planning case formulation and treatment planning
* Providing programmatic treatment interventions
* Assisting with medication management
* Conducting group psycho-education
About ADF Health Services
In partnership with Bupa, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.
This includes providing defence-ready clinical and support staff across 45+ on-base locations, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.
About Lavarack Health Centre
Lavarack Health Centre is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, the largest Army base in Australia. It includes the Operational Deployment Force and facilities to undertake mission rehearsal exercises prior to deployment. The facility provides primary medical, underwater medical, surgical outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care to approximately 8000 members. It also operates a 24/7 inpatient low dependency ward. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally 0700-1630 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend shifts).

Shifts are lifestyle friendly in this Mental Health Registered Nurse role, being Monday to Friday day shifts - no nights or weekends.
To be successful in this role you'll have the following:
* Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* Be credentialed with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN); OR minimum qualification of Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing; OR Mental Health trained nurse /United Kingdom trained undergraduate Mental Health Nurse
* Minimum of 2 years full-time (or part-time equivalent) Post Registered Nurse general registration experience within the previous 5 years in mental health in a primary health setting or specialist mental health setting
Please note:
· You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role.
· You don't need to be enlisted in the Defence Force to work as a civilian on-base and your job stays here, even if the Defence personnel you care for are deployed.
