An opportunity has emerged within our Garden Island (Sydney) based Engineering team for a talented Technnical Writer / Technical Publications Author.

As a member of our Sydney based Maritime project team, you'll be responsibile for completing a variety of publication verification and amendment tasks. More specifically you will:
Develop and deliver monthly progress reports and updated schedules, emergent situation reports and risk reports

Identify prioritised publications for validation and amendment, in consultation with Ship Staff, to be agreed and accepted by the Commonwealth

Develop a 12 month schedule for validation and amendment of prioritised publications, to be agreed and accepted by the Commonwealth

Undertake physical configuration inspection of systems to ensure 'as fitted' reflects supplied publications

Ensure publications contain enough information for Ships use and update or provide recommendations;
As an ideal applicant, you'll be ready to join us by mid-November (or thereabouts) and come equipped with:
Technical author qualifications and experience in ship mechanical/marine (Prime Mover and ancillary) systems

Experience in publication authoring or amendments

Previous experience working within a technical regulatory environment

Whilst not essential, previous technical experience in the use of Royal Australian Navy (RAN) ship systems or equivalent will be advantageous as will experience in the development or amendment of Defence Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) publications. Previous experience in the RAN N4 Library or Australian Book of Reference (ABR) suite of documents will be well regarded.

Due to the nature of our work, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible for Defence security clearance. Current security clearance (Baseline) is preferred.
