Offer description

Company

Our client is a leading utility‑scale renewable energy developer and owner operating across Australia. They are committed to delivering innovative energy solutions while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence. With a strong portfolio of solar, battery, and hydrogen projects at various stages of development, this forward‑thinking organisation is at the forefront of Australia's energy transition, offering exciting career opportunities in a dynamic and growing sector.

Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to represent our client's interests on a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the Central West NSW region. This is a genuine owner's representative position where you will be the primary interface between the project owner and their EPC contractor throughout the construction phase. It is a fixed‑term 12‑month contract with extension or possible conversion to permanent.

This site‑based role offers the opportunity to play a critical part in delivering significant renewable energy infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the EPC contractor delivers on their commitments across safety, quality, schedule, and contractual obligations while protecting our client's investment throughout the project lifecycle.

As Site Manager, you will oversee all construction activities, manage stakeholder relationships with grid connection partners and local authorities, and lead a Site Coordinator who will report directly to you. The role offers significant autonomy and direct influence over project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Contractor Oversight & Site Governance

* Represent the owner on‑site, ensuring the EPC contractor delivers in accordance with contract terms, technical specifications, and project schedule.
* Manage interfaces, risks, and disputes with the EPC contractor and grid connection partners on‑site.
* Liaise with local authorities via assigned project roles.
* Manage the Site Coordinator assigned to the project.
* Monitor and report on construction activities and attend witness points to ensure compliance with relevant design, specifications, codes, and standards.
* Manage claims such as warranty defects with EPC contractor, key equipment suppliers, or insurance claims.

Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)

* Manage and coordinate the implementation of the client's Integrated Management System across the site.
* Ensure contractors comply with obligations and responsibilities as defined in the company's HSSE policies.
* Support development and review of HSSE documentation, including risk registers, SWMS, procedures, permits, and audit findings.
* Participate in HSSE workshops and other activities, including inspections, audits, and investigations.

Quality Assurance & Control

* Govern the quality of project documentation, including ITPs, ITRs, and payment claims.
* Maintain and update a daily site diary to capture site progress and activities.
* Manage, coordinate, and prepare required reports, including regulatory (quarterly, annual) and internal (weekly, monthly) reporting.

Technical Oversight

* Assist with the management of engineering quality, design optimisation, and constructability of all deliverables and activities performed at the site.
* Assist in the review and approval of technical queries, design changes, and technical deviation requests raised by contractors in a timely manner.

About You

Essential Requirements

* Minimum 2 years of experience managing construction in the power generation industry.
* Understanding of complex, multi‑faced major energy projects across multiple jurisdictions.
* Working knowledge of acts, regulations, and policies governing project development, construction, and operation.
* High level of safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
* Strong situational awareness and problem‑solving capabilities.
* Proven ability to manage tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
* Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
* Local to the Central West NSW region or willing to relocate.

Desirable

* Understanding of project risks and potential exposure across solar, battery, and other renewable project types through construction and operational phases.
* Experience contributing to technical solutions for major energy projects across the construction and operation lifecycle.
* Experience in community consultation and stakeholder engagement.
