About the role
Palisades Australia Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Infrastructure Engineers to join our team on a contract basis. This is a crucial role that will be responsible for implementing, operating, maintaining, and retiring ICT infrastructure that supports mission‑critical government systems for our federal government client. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the seamless and reliable functioning of our client's critical systems and networks.
What you'll be doing
* Install, configure, maintain and de‑install physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure
* Perform routine patching, upgrades, monitoring, and fault remediation to ensure high availability
* Use automation and scripting to build, replicate and sustain system environments
* Configure and sustain core infrastructure services (e.g. authentication, logging, monitoring)
* Investigate and resolve operational infrastructure issues within agreed service levels
* Maintain operational documentation and recovery procedures
* Collaborate with engineering and operational teams in a secure government environment
What we're looking for
* Significant experience (8+ years) in a similar infrastructure engineering role
* Extensive knowledge of server, storage, network, and cloud technologies
* Strong proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g. PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform)
* Experience with automation, scripting, and infrastructure‑as‑code tooling (e.g. PowerShell, Ansible). Exposure to container platforms is beneficial but not essential.
* Understanding of IT security best practices and ability to implement robust security measures
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
* Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
