About the Role
As a Wardsperson with Hunter New England Health, you will play a key role in supporting the safe and efficient functioning of our health service. Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Assist with patient lifting, moving, personal care, and hygiene to ensure the delivery of safe and high-quality care.
- Perform cleaning duties, including terminal cleans, removal of soiled linen, and infection control procedures, in line with NSW Health policies.
- Maintain and monitor cleaning equipment and ward stores, including the safe replacement of ward oxygen cylinders.
- Undertake portering and patient care duties, including patient transfers, pharmacy collections, and delivery of cytotoxic waste.
- Assist with the transfer of deceased persons to the mortuary and support staff in viewings.
- Wear appropriate PPE, adhere to chemical handling guidelines, and comply with WHS legislation.
- Complete all cleaning documentation accurately.
This is a hands-on and varied role that requires teamwork, responsibility, and reliability to ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
About You
The successful candidate will be:
- Responsible, reliable, and honest, with high ethical standards.
- Skilled in effective communication and able to work both independently and within a team.
- Flexible and available to work a rotating roster (24/7, including weekends and public holidays).
- Committed to patient safety, confidentiality, and infection control.
- Experienced in wardsperson, cleaning, or patient care duties (desirable).
- Knowledgeable in cleaning procedures and the safe use of agents.
