**Your new role**:
The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) has been a part of Australian defence landscape for many decades and comprises three Over-The-Horizon-Radar (OTHR) systems to provide surveillance coverage of our northern border. BAE Systems has been awarded the contract to manage the upgrade of this 100 percent Australian solution that is strategically important to Australia's security.
As the Battlespace Surveillance Centre (BSC) Shift Support Officer you will be responsible for ensuring that the technical and operational maintenance and support associated with assigned projects/tasks is achieved in accordance with the contractual and company requirements. This position involves working on a shift roster, out of hours routines and callout may be required on occasions.
**Reporting to the BSC Maintenance Lead, in this role you will**:
- Support ICT and technical systems in order to maintain the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and other relevant surveillance systems
- Assist in system level fault finding and rectification activities with technical and engineering support staff at Radar 1, 2 and 3 Receive and Transmit sites
- Liaise with Engineering staff to assist with technical investigations
- Assist in technical investigations at BSC site locations for technical hardware and software issues, documentation and technical support aspects of the radar and associated systems
- Maintain knowledge and expertise in propriety products used in the radar systems
- Comply with documented engineering processes and procedures
- Assist the Maintenance Lead with coordination of Site Audits for Engineering, Logistics, Quality, Configuration Management, Security and (Safety Health and Environment)
- Report on site-specific maintenance and operational performance to internal stakeholders and external customer
About you
**As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have**:
- Previous experience in military surveillance systems (radar, sonar, LIDAR, SBIRS) or equivalent
- Broad technical IT experience in multiple areas including networking and systems administration
- Experience in network troubleshooting including switching and routing
- Knowledge in Red Hat Linux operating system (desirable)
- Experience involving operations support, maintenance and or development in defence based engineering systems (desirable)
- Current defence security clearance
Clearances
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
