Network Engineer (Mid–Senior)
Canberra | Hybrid | Government Department | Contract or Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a Government Department in Canberra, working in a hybrid environment across both project-based initiatives and business-as-usual (BAU) operations. This role is ideal for a mid to senior engineer with strong Cisco expertise who enjoys hands-on technical work within a collaborative team.
This role is available on a contract or permanent basis and requires an active NV1 Security Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide BAU network support including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution
* Perform network upgrades, updates, patching, and firmware management
* Participate in key projects, including:
* Migration to a new Cisco ISE (ICE) environment
* Small-scale cloud migration initiatives
* Work collaboratively within a team to maintain secure and reliable network services
Technical Skills & Experience
* Strong Routing and Switching expertise
* Solid WiFi / Wireless networking experience
* Proven Cisco experience, including:
* Cisco ISE (ICE)
* Cisco Wireless solutions
* Experience with Fortinet firewalls
* Zscaler experience is desirable but not essential
* Mid - Senior level network engineering experience

Security Requirements
* NV1 Security Clearance required (or ability to obtain)
