Primary objective

Provide administrative support to the Driver Licensing Unit to ensure effective business operations are maintained and quality

services are provided to department staff, the public and external service providers.

Context statement

The Driver Licensing Unit develops operational policy and maintains records and public content related to driver licensing in the

Northern Territory. The business unit responds to driver licensing queries, manages drivers with medical conditions and demerit

point sanctions and oversees external driver licence service providers.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide direct administrative support to Driver Licensing Unit staff.

2. Use computer software to design forms and driver licensing information for publication.

3. Review and make suggestions on ways to improve Driver Licensing Unit administration processes.

1. Respond to licensing related enquires received from internal and external stakeholders in a professional and efficient manner

as first point of contact for the business unit.

5. Record and process information received from interstate road agencies regarding sanctions, including generating letters and

making contact with affected licence holders.

1. Prioritise and perform work tasks in a reliable and timely manner with limited supervision.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to engage positively with internal and external stakeholders in a customer

service focused environment.

2. Good written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise work tasks to achieve quality results

within the agreed timeframes.

3. Demonstrated experience in carrying out business administrative tasks, including using computer software in order to provide

accurate and succinct information in a range of formats for internal and external audiences.

1. Proven ability to manage and respond positively to change and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
2. Demonstrated ability to understand and apply policy and procedures to inform advice to stakeholders.
3. Hold a current Australian Class C drivers' licence.

Desirable

1. An understanding of Motor Vehicle Registry operations and in particular driver licensing policies, procedures, and their

relevance to customer services.

2. An awareness of interstate driver licensing practices including sanctions processes and national guidelines for Assessing Fitness

to Drive.

Successful applicant must demonstrate to the delegate's satisfaction, they are of satisfactory character to perform the role. This

may require the successful applicant to provide a National Police Criminal History Check prior to commencement. Regional travel

may be required as part of the role.
