Role Overview
As a Junior Software Engineer, you will be part of an engineering delivery team supporting the development, testing, integration, and maintenance of software components for enterprise and mission‐critical systems. Working under close supervision and direction, you will apply foundational software engineering practices to deliver well‐defined tasks within established engineering, quality, and service management frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, configure, and test software components in line with defined requirements and engineering standards.
* Contribute to key phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including build, integration, testing, and deployment support.
* Implement and maintain code using approved programming languages, frameworks, APIs, and software design patterns.
* Perform unit testing, troubleshoot technical issues, and resolve routine software defects, escalating where required.
* Collaborate with senior engineers and team members to clarify requirements, support delivery outcomes, and assist with system integration activities.
* Maintain technical documentation and operate in accordance with engineering, security, and ITIL‐aligned service management processes while contributing to team knowledge sharing.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent vocational training/industry experience.
* Foundational experience or exposure to software development within academic, project, or enterprise environments.
* Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices and experience with modern programming languages or frameworks such as Java, JavaScript, C#, or Python.
* Familiarity with API integration concepts, source control systems, and collaborative development tools.
* Understanding of secure development principles, quality standards, and delivery methodologies such as Agile or Kanban.
* Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn engineering processes and standards, and ability to manage tasks and meet delivery expectations.
Required Attributes
* Australian Citizen and hold an active TSPV Clearance; must be able to secure a DISA/OSA clearance.
