The Role

The SMP Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of Structural / Mechanical / Piping teams, ensuring seamless delivery of projects that meet safety, quality, and financial targets. We seek a highly skilled and experienced individual who can lead complex projects, ensure safety and production continuity, and drive results-oriented performance.


Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate will contribute to excellence in service delivery by:

* Providing leadership and supervision of Structural / Mechanical / Piping disciplines, ensuring timely delivery of scheduled, planned, and reactive maintenance.
* Managing specialist services contractors to deliver maintenance plans as required.
* Participating in effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of preventative, non-routine maintenance activities and refurbishment programs across site.
* Ensuring duties are performed in line with both Wood's and clients' HSE programs.
* Delivering against contract KPIs and business objectives.
* Liaising with engineering and production teams to scope, plan, and execute maintenance and upgrade works with minimal operational disruption.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. Trade qualification in mechanical fitting, fabrication, or similar discipline.
2. Minimum 5 years' experience supervising SMP activities in heavy industry.
3. At least 8 years' total experience in brownfield processing facilities – ideally within aluminium smelting, metal refining, or similar continuous process industries.
4. Experience working in furnace or hot metals environments is highly advantageous.
5. Strong understanding of pressure equipment, structural steel integrity, and rotating equipment.
6. Demonstrated ability to lead teams in complex, high-risk environments with a focus on safety and production continuity.
7. Foster and maintain a collaborative, high-performing team culture with a strong focus on safety and client satisfaction.
8. Ability to understand, work to, and ensure compliance with clients' Permit to Work System.
9. Ensure all SWMS are developed, reviewed, and understood, and associated paperwork is satisfactorily completed.
10. Ensure timely resolution of safety issues and provide communication and consultation on safety-related matters to work teams.
11. Lead and participate in investigations and implementation of assigned actions, communicating team incidents/lessons learned at weekly site safety meetings.
12. Maintain a zero tolerance for unsafe acts or behaviours and implement the Just and Fair Culture process as required.
13. Initiate safety, quality, and environmental processes within the area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and risk identification and assessment in accordance with Wood and clients' requirements.
14. Direct and assign appropriate resources to complete tasks, ensuring delivery of quality work and avoiding rework.
15. Assist and support the scheduler in planning and coordination of the maintenance program.
16. Prioritise, schedule, and monitor works undertaken by trades, optimising resource use to provide timely and cost-effective services.
17. Demonstrated ability to work independently with good initiative and interpersonal skills.
18. Competent computer skills (Microsoft Office and Excel) and requirement to write accurately.
