About the Role:
Your responsibilities will include selection, purchasing, and delivery range strategy for the Platypus footwear division. This is the ideal role for an experienced Buyer within the retail industry in footwear. You will be required to build strong relationships with both internal teams and suppliers to achieve the outcomes of the role.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Range Selection & Assortment Analysis
* Develop a range selection in line with business and consumer needs.
* Ensure category/gender/seasonal trends are reflected in ranging.
* Identify sales trends highlighting best and worst performers and areas of opportunity.
* Ensure assortment depth and size curves are relevant and in line with sales trends.
* Analysis of category performance, macro market (domestic and international), direct competitor, customer and store feedback and trends to build a deep understanding of the customer and the business.
Brand Partnerships
* Brand partner negotiation including negotiating best financial cost for all product, markdown assistance, and/or rebates.
* Manage and maintain strong brand partner partnerships to ensure market-leading assortment.
* Liaise with Brand Partners and Marketing to ensure successful launches and campaign executions, delivering strong ROI.
* Liaise with Brand Partners reporting successes and giving feedback on the retail performance of assigned brands, reviewing inventory and forward order opportunities and risks.
* Source new and relevant brands to enable category growth.
Planning Partnership
* Work with Planner to review performance and forecast by brand, manage inventory and OTB in line with business targets.
* Work with Planner to strategise forecast, and purchase core items in line with company objectives and inventory targets.
In-Season Trade
* Daily review of sales highlighting opportunities.
* Weekly in-depth review of portfolio and delivery of performance/suggested actions at Trade Meetings.
* Regular reviews of forward order and current inventory hold, highlight opportunities/risk and action with Planning, Retail and Brand Partners.
* Work with Marketing & Retail Teams to ensure key items are promoted and featured in campaigns.
Senior Team Communication
* First point of contact for all Senior Leadership regarding any queries, issues or feedback regarding assigned brands.
* Present to Senior Leadership and Store Teams regarding assigned brand strategy, trends, product knowledge and what is coming for assigned brands.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have the following:
* Demonstrated previous experience in a retail buying role ideally with retail apparel/footwear.
* A passion for driving sales and achieving profit margins.
* The ability to manage and maintain multiple supplier relationships.
* Proficient in Excel – analysing data and managing reports.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate with various stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to create, plan, monitor and execute multiple reports.
