Embark on an exciting four-year apprenticeship with Wingecarribee Shire Council, where you'll develop practical skills, earn trade tickets, learn from experienced plumbers, and play a key role in maintaining the essential water and sewer services that support our thriving community.
What You'll Do
As an Apprentice Plumber you'll report to the Team Leader Water and support the daily operation, maintenance, and construction of essential water and sewer infrastructure that keeps our community running. Under supervision, you'll assist with installation, repairs, and maintenance activities, safely using tools, plant, and equipment while developing strong practical skills. You'll actively participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, and risk assessments, learning to apply safe systems of work.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll work alongside experienced and qualified plumbers where you'll gain hands-on experience across Council's water and sewerage networks while completing a Certificate III in Plumbing (Water Services). You'll also build effective communication and customer service skills, working collaboratively within a multi-skilled team and engaging positively with colleagues and the community. With a strong focus on safety, learning, and teamwork, this role offers the opportunity to develop a solid trade foundation while contributing to essential services that benefit the wider community.

What You'll Need To Succeed (Essential Criteria)

* Completion of Year 10 with satisfactory outcomes (Record of School Achievement (RoSA)
* Suitable Literacy, numeracy and digital literacy skills to manage the educational and professional requirements of the apprenticeship. Basic computer literacy, including experience / knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Demonstrated commitment to training and to personal development with a focus on planning and organising competing priorities.
* A genuine interest in a plumbing role within the Water & Sewer Industry.
* Able to satisfy basic manual handling and physical health requirements of the position, and a willingness to work in an outdoor environment.
* Ability to work as part of team.
* Ability to develop sound knowledge and understanding of Work Health Safety

Other Requirements

* Hold a provisional NSW Driver's Licence
* Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
* Complete immunisation record of Hepatitis A, B and Tetanus or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
