Statistical Machine Learning Research Opportunities

We are seeking highly motivated PhD candidates to undertake research in statistical machine learning with applications to metocean and ocean engineering.

The successful applicants will be hosted at the University of Wollongong or another institution, depending on research interests and student circumstances.

A generous scholarship will fund studies for three years full-time, with additional funding available for conference travel and collaboration with international researchers.

To be eligible, candidates must have a strong background in statistical machine learning and programming skills in languages such as Python or R. Familiarity with data driven spatio-temporal inference, sequential decision making, and statistical analyses of physical models is also an advantage.

Candidates will have access to state-of-the-art computational facilities and a collaborative research environment. They will work closely with experienced researchers in the field to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems.

Successful candidates will be expected to produce high-quality research output, including publications in reputable journals and presentations at conferences.
