The Role
The Gardener will oversee and maintain high-quality garden spaces across our Wheelers Hill Campus, adding a touch of horticultural knowledge and contributing to the ongoing enhancement of landscaped environments. This includes managing plant health, garden presentation, and overall landscape aesthetics in line with established horticultural best practices.
This role will also contribute collaboratively to other members of the maintenance team, supporting general site tasks such as setting up events, moving equipment, furniture, and deliveries.
This is an ongoing full-time opportunity primarily based at our Wheelers Hill Campus.
Key Duties
The Gardener shall carry out all routine gardening related works of designated areas, together with new gardening projects that may arise
General lawn, path and roadway maintenance, mowing, edge trimming, backpack blowing and pick up of rubbish
Ensure that all work delegated is carried out in a timely and professional manner and always ensure the areas under his control are presented and maintained to the highest possible standard.
Practice sustainable gardening techniques and principles.
Routine gardening maintenance, i.e. weeding, pruning, watering, fertilizing, mulching etc.
Carry out pest control and use safe herbicide management as directed by Campus Facilities and Maintenance Manager
Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills And Experience
Gardening experience and Horticultural Qualifications desirable
Adherence to OH&S compliance and management
Time Management
Any relevant machinery, equipment or working with heights licenses desirable
Hold or willing to obtain an Employment Working With Children Check.
