About the role
The Laboratory Scientist in this role will be an active member of the Core Laboratory (Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Transfusion and limited Molecular Microbiology) across New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital laboratories. This position may also require rotations to the Prahran laboratory, especially for training and continuous professional development. They will be responsible for the processing of routine and urgent specimens according to laboratory procedures and issue pathology results across various departments of the core laboratory. The role also requires participation in a 24/7 rotating roster and an on-call roster after-hours.
About you
* Bachelor's degree in science, Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Scientist) or equivalent is required.
* Experience working in a multi-skilled laboratory i.e., Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Transfusion Laboratory.
* Previous experience with troubleshooting automated laboratory analysers.
* Demonstrated verbal, written communication and organisational skills.
* Computer proficiency and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Class C driver's license and willingness to travel to the various WH and Prahran sites as needed.
* Experience performing blood film morphology.
