Overview of the Role
The Platform consultant is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of SAP systems, especially within the context of the RISE with SAP program. This includes system installation, configuration, monitoring, upgrades, performance tuning, and security management, with a focus on the technical aspects of SAP landscapes. They play a key role in cloud migrations, integration with SAP BTP, and ensuring compliance within the SAP environment. This role is also responsible for environment planning and release management of Core SAP systems and its non-SAP satellites. Working closely with test managers and technical leads, this role maps environments and develops a roadmap for the program.
Responsibilities
* System Management: Installing, configuring, and maintaining SAP systems, including NetWeaver, S/4HANA, and Java-based components.
* Environment Plans and Roadmap: Leading and supporting RISE with SAP projects, including cloud migration planning, readiness checks, and cutover execution.
* Cloud Migration & Integration: Leading and supporting RISE with SAP projects, including cloud migration planning, readiness checks, and cutover execution.
* SAP BTP Management: Administering and monitoring SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) environments, including subaccounts, services, and trust configurations.
* Security & Authorization: Implementing and managing SSO, user administration, and other security-related tasks, ensuring compliance with audits.
* Performance Tuning & Monitoring: Regularly monitoring performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing system efficiency.
* System Upgrades & Maintenance: Planning and executing SAP system upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.
* Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Diagnosing and resolving technical issues within the SAP environment, working with teams for timely resolution.
* Documentation & Communication: Creating and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, and operational dashboards.
* Collaboration: Working with functional consultants, developers, and infrastructure teams to ensure an efficient SAP landscape.
* Presales Support: Providing technical expertise on RISE with SAP solutions.
* Project Leadership: Leading and coordinating SAP Basis projects, including installations, migrations, and upgrades.
* Technical Consulting: Advising on SAP RISE configurations, integrations, and best practices.
Qualifications
Essential Skills
* 7+ years of Platform foundations for ERP systems.
* Strong technical skills in SAP Basis administration and environment management, including system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
* Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP NetWeaver, and SAP BTP.
* Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of SAP security concepts, including SSO and authorization management.
* Knowledge of Fiori Launchpad Configuration, SAP Readiness Check and ODATA service setup.
* Experience with database management (HANA, Oracle, etc.).
* Knowledge of Hana DB Installation, Configuration, Backup and Recovery.
* Hana sizing, performance tuning and configuration.
* Familiarity with Cloud Connector, SAP ALM and Cloud Transport Management.
* Managing Global Accounts, Sub Accounts and Cloud Foundry Org and Space.
* Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and DevOps practices.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
* Analytical, results-driven and solution-oriented mindset.
* Team player with strong communication skills and proactive problem-solving.
* Experience in agile environments and cross-functional collaboration.
Desirable
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
* Working knowledge of ITIL and Agile.
* Strong organizational and planning skills.
* SAP Basis and S/4HANA certifications are advantageous.
* Experience with SAP RISE projects, including cloud migrations and integrations.
