The Law Society of NSW is Australia's largest and most influential membership association for solicitors. We're not all lawyers, but we work together to support the legal profession and ensure a just society for all.

We are currently looking for a full time permanent Head of Strategic Marketing, Brand and Events to join our Membership and Engagement team.


About the role

The Head of Strategic Marketing, Brand and Events is responsible for the leadership and direction of the newly integrated Strategic Marketing, Brand and Events team.

You will be responsible for defining the brand, marketing and events strategy, overseeing execution and leading a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that all initiatives and projects reflect the organisation's values and strategic priorities.

You will also play a key role in building a positive, high‑performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, creativity and accountability – ensuring high‑quality outcomes that enhance the Law Society of NSW's brand and experience. For our members, the profession and the broader public.


What you'll be doing

* Lead the strategic planning and marketing direction by developing a cohesive, integrated approach for the Law Society of NSW that unifies brand and marketing activity across the M&E department and the broader organisation.
* Drive effective execution to strengthen the Law Society's presence across the profession and the broader community, promoting key functions, services and member benefits while elevating public understanding of our role, such as upholding the rule of law and supporting access to justice.
* Develop targeted, audience‑specific strategies and campaigns, e.g. Government, In‑house and Early Career segments, using an integrated mix of social media, digital channels, events and broader marketing activity to drive engagement and impact.
* Influence leadership through relationship building and strong executive‑level presence – positioning Marketing as a strategic partner for the organisation.
* In collaboration with the M&E Director, lead/support key strategic priorities for the organisation including CRM implementation, website transformation and the member value proposition.
* Oversee the development and execution of marketing programs and multi‑channel campaigns ensuring alignment with adjacent programs (CPD events, member events, commercial partnerships etc.) as well as strategic priorities.
* Differentiate through clear and compelling content marketing initiatives and programs that reflect the Law Society of NSW's purpose, brand and value proposition.
* Ensure Marketing programs are delivered on time, on budget and on brand – and are tracked and measured.
* Focus on ROI – ensuring data is used for strategic planning, marketing performance measurement and optimisation.
* Oversee the yearly events calendar to ensure coordination, consistency, and strategic alignment with organisation strategic priorities.
* Oversee the development and delivery of major events and conferences.
* Ensure all events meet brand, content and compliance standards, and deliver a consistent, high‑quality attendee experience.
* Oversee the effective use of Asana, best practice process and optimisation.
* Ensure all events are being tracked with reports on performance, including budget, attendance, feedback, engagement metrics and recommendations for future improvement are generated.
* Oversee the Design team and ensure creative excellence and brand compliance across all outputs.
* Champion the Law Society of NSW'S brand ensuring both verbal and visual expression consistently – aligned with Brand Standards and guidelines.
* Support the rollout of the 2026 Brand Refresh project.
* Lead, mentor and develop the team, fostering a supportive and accountable culture.
* Conduct regular performance check‑ins and ensure team members are delivering on their goals.
* Model and promote values‑based leadership, professionalism, care, and a commitment to quality.
* Support and contribute to marketing governance and team upskilling.
* Ensure seamless integration between marketing, brand and events team.
* Identify and implement process improvements to streamline approvals, delivery, minimise risk, and increase consistency.
* Champion attention to detail across all aspects of planning and execution, ensuring all elements are delivered to a high standard.
* Maintain accurate budgets, manage approvals, and oversee supplier payments within organisational guidelines.


About you

* Minimum of Bachelor's Degree is required in business or marketing.
* 15 years'+ marketing experience, including a minimum of seven years developing organisational‑wide marketing strategies and leading high performing talent in a commercial corporate environment (i.e. large professional services firms, banks, legal or consulting firms).
* Proven track record of developing and successfully marketing services and evolving market function maturity.
* Exceptional people skills and leadership attributes required to build, motivate and inspire teams.
* Demonstrated experience developing strong peer relationships across complex organisations.
* Ability to effectively operate and influence senior stakeholders (including executive level).
* A connector, who proactively "joins the dots" across teams and organisation.
* Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills in written and verbal form.
* Ability to practice open communication, provide constructive feedback (and receive it) and elevate issues in a timely manner.
* Curious and focused on continuous learning.
* Adaptable, and shows resilience under pressure.
* Ability to break down complex problems and understand root causes and implications.
* Solid strategic judgment and decision making – with ability to evaluate options using data and insight to make informed decisions.
* Strong attention to detail, with a proactive and solutions‑focused mindset.


About the team

The role sits within our Membership and Engagement Department and is responsible for creating a range of content and experiences aimed at engaging members and the broader profession. This team works closely with other teams within the department and the organisation to deliver high quality marketing, creative design and dynamic events to educate, engage and connect our membership and the broader profession.
