Corporate Counsel - Regulatory Affairs
We are seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to join our team and provide strategic legal advice on regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing timely, commercially focused legal advice to support regulatory uplift programs, business decision-making, compliance, and customer outcomes. This includes ongoing legal support and advice on regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with telecommunications laws, industry codes, and emerging digital platform regulations.
The role also involves managing regulatory enforcement matters by mitigating legal risks, providing customer-focused advice, overseeing external resources, and ensuring timely reporting to stakeholders. Additionally, the Corporate Counsel will manage Optus' responses to regulatory and law enforcement requests while supporting the Group Compliance Program through legal advice, compliance, and proactive risk identification.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide timely, strategic, and commercially focused legal advice to support regulatory uplift programs, business decision-making, compliance, and customer outcomes.
* Manage regulatory enforcement matters by mitigating legal risks, providing customer-focused advice, overseeing external resources, and ensuring timely reporting to stakeholders.
* Manage Optus' responses to regulatory and law enforcement requests while supporting the Group Compliance Program through legal advice, compliance, and proactive risk identification.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in telecommunications and regulatory law, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You should also have experience in working in fast-paced environments and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
* Australian Solicitor with 5+ years' legal experience in telecommunications or regulatory law.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and develop practical solutions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels.
