About the Role

The position delivers training, professional development, and workforce support activities across the Northern Territory. Facilitators deliver a range of training packages including, but not limited to, Culturally Responsive Trauma Informed Practice (CRTIP), Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid (ATSIMHFA) and Narrative Practice. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain collaborative, consultative relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) and key organisations to improve access to SEWB training programs delivered face‐to‐face and online.
• Work as part of a team to contribute to the development of new or enhance existing high-quality training resources, tools, workshop plans and reports.
• Continuously develop and deepen content knowledge of SEWB training programs by undertaking self‐initiated learning, evidence‐based research and professional development initiatives.
• Along with other team members, facilitate SEWB training and organisational change programs that are underpinned by trauma‐informed approaches and provide workforce mentoring and support to ACCHS to apply in practice learning outcomes.
• Undertake projects, initiatives and activities that support best practice models of SEWB and AOD programs as directed by SEWB Manager and Workforce Development Coordinator.
• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of processes and outcomes by taking part in research projects or sector forums.
• Work collaboratively within the SEWB team to contribute to professional learning and reflective practice, general administrative duties, and contribute to maintaining internal and external communication processes.
• Undertake other tasks as directed by the SEWB Manager and/or the SEWB Workforce Development Coordinator.

Essential

Selection Criteria (qualifications and attributes):

• Work experience and/or qualifications in one of the following disciplines: training and facilitating, social and emotional wellbeing, suicide prevention and mental health; community development; social work; alcohol and other drugs; or counselling.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) suitable to a cross‐cultural environment and a cross‐section of stakeholders including Aboriginal community members, health professionals and senior managers.
• Ability to facilitate training and learning outcomes to diverse audiences and the ability to present AMSANT training programs in public forums.
• Possess project management and problem‐solving skills that contribute to planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects and initiatives.
• Understanding of or demonstrated knowledge of culturally safe and trauma‐informed practice, issues surrounding suicide, grief and loss for Aboriginal people.
• Demonstrated ability to reflect on own skills and the available evidence‐base in relation to improving the quality of programs and program outcomes.
• Knowledge and proven ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.
• Ability to travel to remote locations by plane or vehicle on a regular basis.

Desirable

• Experience working in an Aboriginal-controlled organisation.
• Qualifications in trauma‐informed care, narrative therapies or related disciplines.
