About the Role
As a Child and Family Health Nurse / Midwife, you’ll play a vital role supporting families and carers of children aged from two weeks to five years. You’ll provide health assessments, early intervention, education, and emotional support, connecting families to primary and secondary care services as needed.
You’ll work collaboratively with other Child and Family Health Nurses and Allied Health clinicians who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, all while delivering person-centred, culturally appropriate care that makes a genuine difference.
This is your opportunity to:
- Provide health promotion, parenting support, and developmental surveillance for children.
- Build meaningful relationships with families and empower them through education and advocacy.
- Contribute to group programs such as New Parents groups and community engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team focused on quality, continuous improvement, and holistic care.
Whether you’re an experienced Child and Family Health Nurse or new to the specialty, you’ll be supported with comprehensive orientation, ongoing supervision, and professional development opportunities.
About You
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Are flexible and adaptable, able to respond to the diverse and changing needs of families.
- Communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds and adjust your approach as needed.
- Demonstrate cultural respect and a commitment to Closing the Gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
- Hold registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Midwife and have a Child and Family Health qualification.
- Have a current driver’s licence and the ability to travel within the district.
