About You
You bring solid experience in financial management and a sound understanding of the obligations placed on not-for-profit organisations in Australia. You are familiar with the financial governance requirements under the Corporations Act, as well as the regulatory expectations of the Australian Taxation Office and the Australian Securities & Investments Commission. Job Description
The tasks of the OCA Treasurer for example, include:
Prepare annual budget for board approval
Keep up-to-date records via XERO, including audit trail, for all transactions
Invoice customers and arrange bill payments (on average 5 transactions per month)
Protect the organisation against fraud and theft, ensuring safe custody of money and prompt banking
Ensure the organisation complies with required returns to regulatory authorities including ASIC and ATO
Review internal processes and reporting methods
Liaison with external auditor
Time Commitments
1.5-hour board meetings are held every 2 months in business hours with 90% online, usually with one in-person meeting to coincide with an industry event.
The Annual General Meeting is online and held in November each year.
Contributing to Board Committees where relevant to the role.
Directors serve a three-year term, with the option to re-stand up to 3 times consecutively.
Independent, Board-Appointed Directors, are appointed based on individual backgrounds and expertise, in addition to an empathy and understanding of the outdoor industry. Each director is required to be committed to the ongoing success and growth of the OCA.
