Robert Half Executive Search has been retained to identify an accomplished Sales leader for the position of Commercial Director, with the remit to expand an exciting, newly created business unit globally with the backing of a well-established market-leading multi-national firm.

This newly formed division within the organisation is focused on delivering highly specialized solutions. With a target market of the Insurance Sector, the firm’s B2B technology platform offers clients seamless and unique procurement, automation and cost-saving solutions.

Reporting to the Global CEO of this business unit, the successful individual will play an integral role in the growth and market expansion globally of this specialty line of service. Additionally, the COO will be expected to contribute to major business development activities as a subject matter expert.

The Role

As an Individual Contributor initially, the successful candidate is expected to leverage their existing network of Insurance clients to drive sales and build a healthy pipeline as well as open doors to new clients with value-based solution selling skills.

As a key member of the Insurtech executive team the Commercial Director will bring to life the opportunity for local and global customers and will create a core team that will design and execute on the firm’s Insurtech strategy.

This Commercial Director position offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an experienced sales leader to shape the future of this growing business unit and will suit someone who identifies as a strategic thinker, a skilled negotiator, an engaging influencer of senior stakeholders and an innovative leader.

This opportunity will appeal to an ambitious Commercial Director, Head of Sales Operations, or similar, who is excited by the scale-up opportunity ahead and driven to make a meaningful impact on delivering innovative strategies and enhancing customer experiences.

The Commercial Director will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Product and Finance teams to develop and implement commercial strategies, optimize pricing, and accelerate customer acquisition and retention. The role will demand a balance of leadership, market insight and analytical skills to drive business growth and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate must be able to plan and orchestrate a range of go-to-market and operational activities and thrive in a start-up environment. The area of responsibility for this role is diverse and requires a mindset with the capability to solve problems at speed, challenge the status quo and work across multiple teams whilst delivering innovative solutions.

Currently in a commercial B2B customer-facing position within an Insurance, Insurtech, SaaS, or related business, the successful candidate will likely have amassed over 5 years of commercial leadership experience, having spent a significant portion of their career successfully executing on the full sales cycle.

Conversationally confident in presenting a compelling value proposition to customers, this individual is a proactive, high achiever with experience of working in complex matrix environments.

The ideal candidate must be able to develop and execute innovative commercial strategies, optimize pricing models, and accelerate customer acquisition and retention efforts.

* Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with a collaborative approach and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
* Global Perspective: Experience and a passion for scaling businesses. Self-motivated and the ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
