Overview

Development Compliance Officer – Pools (Ref: 1208)

The Development Integrity Officer - Pools is responsible for ensuring the owners of properties with swimming and spa pools comply with safety standards. This is done through inspections of pool barriers, identification of non-compliant structures or practice, working together with the customer to resolve issues, and completing follow-up and enforcement actions. This position also contributes to community education initiatives that promote water safety and reduce the risk of drowning incidents. Applications are sought from suitably qualified and experienced candidates, however the City will also consider applications from candidates with lesser qualifications and experience, who can demonstrate qualities that meet the requirements of a Development Compliance Officer.

Key accountabilities

* Conduct inspections of residential swimming and spa pools, ensuring compliance with legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.
* Investigate breaches and assist the Coordinator Development Compliance to liaise with the City's legal representatives and represent the City in legal proceedings.
* Respond to general enquiries and complaints (personal, written or telephone) relating to pool compliance.
* Work closely with the Development Compliance team and assist in other compliance duties.

Position requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Certificate IV in Local Government or Government Investigation, or previous experience in the development industry. They will have developed knowledge of relevant pool legislation, with proven ability to demonstrate sound analytical, communication and problem solving skills. Computer literacy in a range of IT applications and devices, together with thorough sense of initiative, the ability to work autonomously and prioritise work to meet deadlines is essential. Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits

A salary ranging from $82,422 - $86,882 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications. A lesser salary starting at $76,072 per annum may be offered should applicants not yet possess the qualification and experience required for this position.
