The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.
Job Summary:
TheGeneral ServicesSuperintendent is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the site services discipline roles on an EPC (direct hire) Copper Processing Plant Project. Supervises and directsScaffold, Cranes and Rigging, Temporary facilities, Equipment and preservation package superintendents, supervisors, craftprofessionals and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets.
This role is offered on a FIFO basis to North Queensland, operating on a 2:1 roster
Major Responsibilities:
* Implementing the project ES&H program and quality control program.
* Providing leadership and championing the “Zero Accidents” philosophy.
* Supervises, coordinates and/or directs Supervision and craft activities as assigned for thegeneral services disciplines.
* Coordinating craft safety training and always enforcing safe work practices in conjunction with the ES&H staff.
* Planning the craft manpower and interfacing with Industrial Relations for craft recruitment, hiring, and skills training programs.
* Supervising and coordinating the work activities of Services scopesand maintaining overall responsibility for quality.
* Oversight of the needs of theServices crews for craft personnel, subcontractor support, construction services, construction cranes and equipment, tools, and consumables as well as optimizing their utilization.
* Review and approve the weekly work plans in conjunction with the area planners.
* Approve material requisitions for all tools and consumables required to execute the work and coordinating with the tool manager to obtain materials.
* Interfacing with the other departments to resolve conflicts.
* Working closely with other lead discipline superintendents and coordinating efforts and activities to meet the overall project requirements.
* Providing input to the quantity tracking application and reporting weekly installed quantities to the responsible field engineer.
* Maintaining a high level of housekeeping throughout the work area.
* Coordinating and supporting allServices related subcontractor work activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 15 years' experience in a similar role.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Must have knowledge and understanding of construction operations at the jobsite
* Must be familiar with the Bechtel Business Ethics handbook and policies.
* Must have knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Bechtel Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Core Processes and Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents”philosophy.
* Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's Standard Work Process Procedures(SWPPs).
* Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects.
* Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current BSAP standards.
* Must be familiar with current industry quality standards and applicable code requirements.
* Must have knowledge and understanding of the formation and administration of construction subcontracts
