Role

Product of Italy is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of the kitchen operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising kitchen staff, ensuring consistency in food preparation, and maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and efficiency.

The Sous Chef will be responsible for assisting with menu implementation, coordinating kitchen workflow, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared and presented in accordance with established recipes and standards. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities during service, and maintain strong communication with both kitchen and front-of-house teams.

Responsibilities And Duties:

* Plan, organise and supervise food preparation and cooking activities across all sections of the kitchen.
* Supervise and coordinate the activities of other chefs, cooks and kitchen staff to ensure efficient and timely service.
* Prepare and cook menu items, including pizzas, fresh pastas, and other Italian dishes, ensuring consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation.
* Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation and service, ensuring compliance with restaurant standards and customer expectations.
* Implement menus and specials, including adapting dishes based on seasonal availability and stock levels.
* Oversee mise en place and ensure all sections are adequately prepared for service.
* Manage stock control, ordering, and inventory to maintain appropriate levels of food supplies.
* Train, guide, and mentor other chefs and junior kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, techniques, and kitchen procedures.
* Ensure all food handling and preparation complies with food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment at all times.
* Coordinate kitchen workflow, rostering, and service operations to ensure smooth and efficient service.
* Work collaboratively with management to ensure high standards of food quality, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.

Skills And Qualifications

AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).3 years of work experience.Ability to handle busy service and ensure quality of food is maintained. Work in a fast-paced environment.Hardworking, positive attitude.Ability to work within a team and independently. Be available for weekdays, weekends, and nights.Australian citizens and permanent residents encouraged to apply.Salary: $75,000 - $78,000
