We have an exciting opportunity for a System Safety Engineering Team Lead to join the Combat System Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT). This key position will report to the Engineering Manager, be offered on a permanent full-time basis and will be situated at Mawson Lakes, Adelaide. Other interstate locations will also be considered.
Overview

The Combat System Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) supports the Royal Australian Navy's surface fleet while strengthening Australia's sovereign combat systems capability. The team designs, integrates, tests, and delivers the Hunter-class frigates' integrated combat system and the Hobart-class destroyers' major combat systems upgrade.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the system safety program to support and contribute to the development of the seaworthiness assurance case for the Hobart Class (DDG) ships
Lead the safety engineering team in the development and conduct of the system safety program
Provide leadership to the team, coach and develop personnel, ensuring services provided meet business objectives
Establish effective consultation and communication mechanisms with customers, internal and external stakeholders, ensuring stakeholders are fully engaged and establishing good relationships
Plan safety engineering deliverables, ensuring the team is adequately tasked and support them to achieve their goals
Provide program reporting on system safety program status including risks, issues, open actions and resourcing
Drive a culture of systems safety engineering practice, efficiency and continuous improvement
About YOU
Extensive product/system safety engineering experience and project planning experience
A tertiary engineering degree and a relevant safety qualification
People leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to manage a team and provide effective leadership, direction and motivation
Good customer and subcontractor management skills, and the ability to influence and develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Defence industry experience, an understanding of safety acts/regulations, and experience applying safety risk management principles
