Salary Range: $1,044 - $1,191 per 38 week + superannuation, with fortnightly RDO
We're looking for a skilled Water Truck Operator to support our road maintenance and construction projects by ensuring gravel and clay surfaces remain at optimal moisture levels. This essential role plays a vital part in prolonging road quality and supporting the day-to-day success of our civil operations.
As a Water Truck Operator, you’ll be responsible for the safe and effective use of the water truck, carrying out daily inspections and maintenance checks, and performing duties such as filling tanks, spraying water in designated areas, and maintaining equipment performance logs. You’ll collaborate closely with supervisors, grader operators, and crew members to deliver timely results across various work zones. From machine start-up to shutdown, your attention to detail and safety will ensure each task is completed with precision and care.
In addition to operating the water truck, you may also be called upon to perform traffic control, general labouring duties, and operate other construction equipment as needed. This role is suited to a proactive, team-oriented individual with relevant experience, a White Card, and strong communication skills. A valid HR Driver’s Licence is essential. You will need a current Traffic Controller Ticket (or be able to obtain it promptly). Experience with a variety of plant machinery and a Certificate III in Civil Construction or the ability to operate rollers and tip trucks will be highly regarded.
This is a 12 month term contract position.

This position is located in the beautiful town of Coonabarabran, known as the Astronomy Capital of Australia, which is midway between Melbourne and Brisbane and is known for its beautiful landscape and stunning night skies. The town has medical services, excellent schools, a variety of sporting and social clubs and a thriving tourism Industry. With the nearby Warrumbungle National Park, which is also Australia’s first Dark Sky Park, there is plenty to do and explore whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation.
Selection Criteria Include
* Commitment to Council’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
* Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) in the workplace and commitment to a positive contribution to WHS in the workplace and compliance with Council and legislative requirements
* Minimum two years’ relevant experience including at least six months operation of water truck
* Class HR NSW Drivers Licence
* OHS Construction Induction Certificate (“whitecard”)
* Traffic Controller Ticket
* Experience operating a range of road maintenance and/or construction plant and equipment
* Sound oral and communication skills to allow effective team communication and completion of required documentation such as risk assessments, pre-start checklists, hazard reports and timesheets
* Demonstrated ability to perform as an effective team member in an operational environment
It's a bonus if you have Implement Traffic Control Plans ticket, Certificate III in Civil Construction and demonstrated ability to operate rollers and tip trucks
