Australian Professional Galvanizing is a medium sized privately owned company with facilities in Cairns and Townsville. Our core business is Galvanizing (Townsville) and Fabrication (Cairns). The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Estimator who will cost and help scope new work and ensure that all cost models for current products are up to date and reflective of true manufacturing cost. This position requires a high level of numeracy, an understanding of fundamental manufacturing processes.
This position will be working out of our Cairns Depot.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with internal and external teams to gather and analyse engineering and financial information to develop and maintain accurate cost models.
* Collect and analyse data on production rates, material costs, labour costs, equipment costs, and appropriate margins to determine manufacturing costs.
* Analyse cost variances and recommend strategies for cost reduction.
* Participate in continuous improvement activities to refine cost estimation methods and processes.
* Assist with scoping of new business, including feasibility checks, secondary process requirements, supplier sourcing and negotiation.
* Prepare cost estimates for new products, projects, and programs to support bid proposals and contract negotiations.
Skills and Experience:
* Relevant steel fabrication trade qualification
* Ideally a minimum of 3 years' experience in cost estimation or procurement.
* Team player with strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
* Highly numerate, with good excel skills and familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
* Ability to negotiate at all levels with internal/external stakeholders.
* Cad drawing experience desired but not essential.
* Australian citizenship or permanent residence is required for this position.
