About the role
Working as part of our team, as a Gardener/Maintenance Officer, you will work closely with the Estate Manager to ensure the establishment and upkeep of the gardens and grounds within this Retirement Estate.
To be successful in this role you will need to be approachable, reliable and bring enthusiasm and a can‐do attitude to your work.
Responsibilities
* Regular communal areas checking to ensure they are tidy and well maintained to support all activities.
* Ongoing care and presentation of all communal gardens and outdoor areas.
* Mowing, edging, fertilising and weeding of lawns and garden beds.
* Pruning of small trees, bushes and hedges.
* Replanting and seasonal planting to maximise garden presentation.
* Monitoring plant health.
* Undertaking routine repair and general maintenance tasks as required.
* Maintenance and minor repairs to paths, drains, garden hedging, faces, retaining walls.
* Assist with preventative maintenance of equipment and tools.
* Maintaining an up‐to‐date inventory of equipment and chemicals.
* Obtaining quotes and arranging works in line with company procurements policies.
* Clearing and removal of green and general waste.
* Coordinating external contractors for specialised work and equipment servicing.
Requirements
* Proven horticultural knowledge and hands‐on gardening experience.
* Experience in general property or commercial maintenance (desirable).
* Trade or maintenance qualification (desirable) and/or willingness to learn.
* Strong problem‐solving skills with a proactive can‐do attitude.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational, time management and decision‐making abilities.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Experience coordinating and managing contractors (desirable).
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively.
