About the Role To support our growth and range of exciting projects, East Coast Ecology is seeking an experienced Ecologist/Botanist who is looking to progress their career in ecological consulting. Our ideal candidate would have previous experience as an ecological consultant in NSW with ecological survey, reporting and assessment skills. You would have a passion for flora and delivering the best environmental outcome. You will work closely with our Principal Ecologists to provide high-quality project outcomes and bespoke advice to our clients. BAM accreditation is a distinct advantage, alternatively the desire and capacity to become BAM accredited based on your existing experience. East Coast Ecology offers a range of incentives for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Undertake flora surveys and vegetation mapping in accordance with BAM guidelines. Identification of plant species and classification of vegetation communities across NSW. Leading and supporting the delivery of ecology projects for a range of clients. Mentoring and managing junior ecologists. Coordinating and leading fieldwork for ecological assessments. Provide biodiversity assessments which include impact assessments (BDARs and FFAs), monitoring reports and targeted surveys. Reviewing reports Qualifications and Skills Tertiary degree in Environmental Science (or a related discipline). First aid and Construction White Card. Driver’s licence (unrestricted). Ability to classify vegetation communities, flora identification, targeted survey and habitat evaluation. Demonstrated experience in delivering ecology projects in NSW, including the capacity to plan surveys and coordinate field teams. Thorough understanding of relevant local, state (NSW) and federal reporting guidelines and legislation. GIS experience. Demonstrated experience in the collection and interpretation of ecological and spatial data. Highly competent in report writing. Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills. Ability to build strong relationships with clients, government agencies and fellow team members. Employing the BAM. BAM accreditation will be highly regarded. A high level of motivation and self-direction. Willingness to travel for field work.
