The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking Open Cut Examiners to join our growing team at the Wilton and Fairhill mining operations.
Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, this role is responsible for overseeing the safety and health of workers within the surface excavation, delivery of mining operations, and management of staff and contractors. The preferred candidate will possess strong communication skills, work well within a small team environment, and have a track record of meeting production outcomes with a definitive safety focus.
Duties will include:
Ensuring the safety and health of persons in or around the surface excavation during mining activities;
Assist in the development and auditing of the Safety Health Management System (SHMS) and play a key role in ensuring ongoing compliance.
Assist with the supervision and management of interactions between mining activities (overburden drilling, blasting, and removal, and coal mining, ROM operations) and neighbouring stakeholders.
Conduct inspections of the surface excavation to ensure the risk to coal mine workers is as low as reasonably practicable.
Develop a high performing culture with safety as a central focus.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive continual improvement.
About You:
You will hold a current QLD Open Cut Examiner certificate of competency, along with:
5+ years previous experience in coal mining operational roles.
Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical.
Valid driver's license and proof of right to work in Australia.
Must be able to pass pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening.
Strong interpersonal skills that foster consultative relationships and influence.
Strong leadership qualities, great communication skills, and a professional attitude when working within a team.
Current advanced first aid competencies is desirable.
