What You'll Be Doing

We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant in Nursing to join our Rehabilitation Unit and expand their career within a supportive and dedicated team environment.

You Will Work As Part Of a Unit Committed To Providing Excellent, Patient-centred Care, Supporting Clients From Admission Through To Discharge. The Rehabilitation Ward Has a Diverse Caseload And Operates As a Stand-alone 22-bed Unit Specialising In

Stroke
Acquired Brain Injury
Neurological Disorders
Lower Limb Amputations
General Debility
Geriatric Assessment
Spinal and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation

The unit provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to patients aged 16 years and over. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of experienced Rehabilitation and Geriatric specialists, where staff are valued and supported to enhance their skills and knowledge through ongoing education.

Key Responsibilities Include

Delivering individualised patient care in line with care plans
Undertaking hourly rounding using HAIDET, ISBAR and patient care boards
Maintaining timely, accurate documentation that aligns with policy and legal requirements
Supporting patients with daily activities and rehabilitation goals

You will be supported in your role by the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Leaders and the Education Team, and will receive a comprehensive orientation to both the unit and the facility.

Tamworth is the heart of the New England North West of NSW, with a vibrant population of over 55,000 people. The city offers excellent connectivity, including an airport with daily flights to Sydney and Brisbane, as well as a daily train service to and from Sydney. Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is a major referral hospital within the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD). The hospital has approximately 270 inpatient beds and includes 8 Operating Theatres, a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit, an 8-bed Coronary Care Unit, Medical, Surgical and Orthopaedic Units, a Palliative Care Unit, and a Specialised Rehabilitation Unit.

Outside of work, Tamworth offers a welcoming lifestyle with a wide range of sport and recreation, arts and culture, music and entertainment, cafés and restaurants, and plenty of weekend adventure opportunities. The region is surrounded by charming towns such as Nundle, Barraba and Manilla, known for their boutique shopping and historic pubs.

Requirements

Certificate III Assistant in Nursing or currently enrolled in an undergraduate Registered Nursing degree (completion of first year and first semester or trimester of second year),or currently enrolled in a TAFE NSW Diplomas of Nursing (completion of identified foundational units in practice AND 120 hours of clinical placement).
