Perry Consulting Engineers is a Melbourne-based building services consultancy delivering practical, coordinated Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic and Fire Services designs across education, health, aged care, community, commercial and QSR projects.
We're a close-knit consultancy that values good engineering, clear communication, and designs that actually work on site. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Registered Mechanical Engineer (VBA) who enjoys hands‐on involvement and wants to play a genuine leadership role.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, hands‐on position where you'll be trusted to run projects, mentor junior engineers, and work directly with clients, architects and builders. You won't be buried in layers of management you'll have direct access to the Directors, real autonomy, and the chance to influence how projects are delivered.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and document HVAC systems in accordance with NCC and relevant AS/NZS standards
* Review and sign off mechanical designs as a Registered Practitioner (Mechanical)
* Liaise with architects, builders and consultants to ensure coordinated design outcomesPrepare mechanical reports, calculations and specifications
* Participate in design meetings and conduct site inspections during construction
* Mentor junior engineers within the team
* Provide hydraulic design input where required
Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Registered Building Practitioner (Mechanical) – (mandatory)
* Minimum 5 years' experience in building services mechanical design
* Strong understanding of NCC, Section J, AS1668, AS/NZS 3666, AS/NZS 3500
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
* Excellent communication and coordination skills
* Practical, detail‐oriented and solution‐focused
