The After Hours Nurse Manager:
* Provides leadership, oversight, and management of the activities of the health service/facility after hours.
* Supports the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework, by coordinating patient flow and management functions within the health service/facility.
The Team:
Hospitals North provides health services across a wide geographical area of Northern Tasmania. Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is the principal referral hospital for a population of more than 250,000 people and is Tasmania's second largest hospital.
LGH operates within the Tasmanian Role Delineation Framework as a Level 5 hospital and is the major referral centre for Northern Tasmania. The hospital delivers a comprehensive range of inpatient and ambulatory services to Launceston and surrounding communities and is the largest employer in the region, with approximately 4,000 staff.
Clinical services include:
* Surgery
* Acute medical services
* Sub‐acute and community services
* Women's and children's services
The Role:
The After Hours Nurse Manager (AHNM) works within the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) and provides leadership, oversight, and management of hospital operations after hours.
This role supports the efficient and effective delivery of care by:
* Coordinating patient flow and operational management functions
* Ensuring care is delivered in line with clinical standards and best‐practice principles
* Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework to support safe, high‐quality patient care across the health service

As this is a casual position, the successful applicant must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and personal qualities outlined in the Statement of Duties (SOD) to work effectively at the expected level on an as‐required basis.
Key requirements include:
* The ability to maintain clinical and operational knowledge and skills independently, noting that there may be extended periods between shifts in the AHNM role
* Confidence to work after hours with minimal supervision
* Commitment to completing up to two weeks of full‐time orientation upon commencement; following this, minimal additional orientation will be provided, with an expectation that you proactively maintain role‐specific competence
* The capacity to work effectively as part of a small after‐hours management team based in the IOC
* Demonstrated personal qualities as outlined in the SOD

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, casual, position working as required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 12 months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$134,109 to $140,384 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Allowances:
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
