About the role
As the Senior Data Governance Officer, you will lead strategic and operational initiatives that strengthen the organisation's data governance framework. Your work will ensure data is managed responsibly, consistently and in line with regulatory obligations including the Public Records Act 2023 (QLD) and other relevant standards.
You will play a key role in driving data quality, metadata management, classification, stewardship, privacy and compliance, enabling the City to deliver trusted analytics and business intelligence outcomes.
We're looking for people who have:
We're seeking a proactive, collaborative data governance specialist who brings strong domain knowledge and the ability to influence data practices across a complex organisation.
* Certification in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP - Certified Data Management Professional) or equivalent industry experience.
* Demonstrated experience leading or driving data governance in a government environment.
* Strong understanding of privacy-by-design, ethical data use and responsible data management.
* Have experience advising and influencing stakeholders at all levels
* Familiarity with cloud data governance (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS) would be desirable
