Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers is looking for an energetic, customer-focused Equipment Inspector to join the team in Newcastle (Tomago) Yard on a permanent basis to support our NSW teams.
This role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanics or conducting heavy equipment inspections; however training will be provided, so most importantly you will need a willingness to learn and a great attitude.
The Opportunity
* Perform accurate and thorough visual inspections (eg. wear points, damage, hour meter readings, etc.) and functional testing (eg. basic operations) on heavy equipment.
* Accurately inspect and gather information on equipment through visual inspection (ie hours, serial numbers, transmission details, etc.).
* Assess the quality of equipment (ie damage, excessive wear) and functionality.
* Identify and record all detailed information through the Inspector app for the Mars Program.
* Maintain accountability for quality assurance and correctly identify details of equipment.
* Liaise and assist the Sales team (TMs) with appraisals and 'building' inspections through photos.
* Perform various yard duties such as operating all equipment in the yard, preparing the yard for auction, staging equipment for auction, and maintaining a clean and organized yard.
* Liaise with consigners and sales team to assist with the organisation of refurbishment through outside suppliers/contractors.
* Liaise with internal staff (CSMs and FinOps) and buyers regarding collection and loadout post-auction.
* Maintain adequate knowledge and use of computers.
* Maintain registers of equipment in the yard and movement of equipment pre- and post-sale.
* Be flexible and willing to work varied hours, including occasional overtime.
* Work in both the yard and the office while delivering excellent customer service to buyers & sellers.
