About the Right to Information Team

The Right to Information Team is responsible for overseeing SafeWork NSW's statutory responsibilities under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act).The GIPA Act establishes a proactive, more open approach to gaining access to government information in New South Wales.
The team operate in a high volume, fast paced and frontline structured environment, to facilitate the review and determination of applications made under the GIPA Act. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, well-established team, who are passionate about applying the relevant legislations and promoting open government.
Your responsibilities will include
Reporting to the Manager of Right to Information, this role is an integral part of the leadership group within the Right to Information team. As a Senior Coordinator, you will provide leadership and technical guidance to staff, to ensure sound and compliant decision making under the GIPA Act. The role will also manage complex requests for information and lead best practice delivery of services, including developing and maintaining processes and procedures and delivering training programs across SafeWork NSW.
About you
1. Highly motivated individual with excellent attention to detail.
2. The position holder will have the ability to make and write, strong, and legally sound, autonomous decisions. In particular, the position holder will have in-depth experience applying the GIPA Act, or in-depth experience applying a similar legislation that facilitates the access of government held information.
* Ability to inspire, motivate, guide and support a small number of direct reports, and experience reviewing the work of others and providing feedback.
* The position holder will need to thrive in a high volume and time pressured environment and effectively prioritise and coordinate their own work, and the work of the team.
* Aptitude to deliver to tight deadlines and be flexible and resilient in an environment of changing and competing priorities.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proven ability to write decisions based on legislation, and to tailor communication messaging effectively to different audiences.
* Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across SafeWork NSW, and experience delivering training to varying internal audiences.
