About the Role
This role offers genuine hands-on experience across core accounting functions—from payroll processing to accounts management—while providing specialised exposure to aged care financial compliance under Australia's new Aged Care Act 2024. You'll work within a supportive, collaborative team committed to your professional development and long-term career advancement.
What You'll Do
* Payroll Excellence: Learn and take ownership of the organisation's fortnightly payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment to our valued aged care staff
* Accounts Management: Develop proficiency in accounts payable and receivable to provide effective holiday relief coverage and support daily operations
* Financial Operations: Maintain accurate financial records, assist with reconciliations, and support month-end and year-end processes
* Sector-Specific Compliance: Gain valuable experience in aged care financial compliance, including Liquidity Management, Financial and Prudential Standards, and regulatory reporting under the Aged Care Act 2024 and Aged Care Rules 2025
* Team Support: Work closely with the Senior Accountant and Chief Finance Officer, assist with enquiries from residents, families, and staff with professionalism and empathy
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (recent graduate or final year completion)
* Strong foundation in accounting principles—accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger
* Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and eagerness to learn accounting software (we use Inerva) and Lightyear
* Strong communication skills and genuine empathy—you'll be working with residents, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
* Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for continuous learning
* Australian working rights and willingness to undergo a National Police Check
Highly Regarded:
* Interest in or understanding of the aged care sector and its regulatory environment
* Previous experience in payroll, accounts administration, or bookkeeping
* Membership or eligibility with CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ, or IPA
