The position is responsible for preparing quotes for our clients in the oil, gas, mining, hydro and petrochemical industries (end users and resellers). Global Supply line (GSL) has $70 million inventory of valves, flanges, fittings, wellheads and related products. In addition to selling from stock, we source and indent for emergency supply inquiries and projects. In addition to representing some of the world's leading valve manufacturers, GSL also owns Australian Pipeline Valve, which manufactures a wide range of valves & associated pipeline products.
The incumbent must be good on the telephone as the role is inside sales using phone and email. Speaking a second language is an advantage. The applicant must be able to accurately and quickly analyse the client's specifications and match those needs to available inventory and logically present a quotation. In addition, the position will be involved in fast-rack sourcing of goods from overseas and exporting. As GSL also operate our own valve engineering and valve automation division on-site, the incumbent will gain considerable experience in all facets involved in valve & piping components. A detailed and fastidious attitude is required, as the salesman needs to ensure the correct item is supplied, correct material certificates and drawings are supplied and correct item is marked off stock. This is as important as technical aptitude. The incumbent must also be able to simplify quotes and quickly analyse what is critical and what is not. Once trained, the position becomes more sales processing and efficiency orientated as well as a need for detail, neatness and accuracy. Proficient administration ability with strong accurate clerical skills is essential. However, someone who has an ability and interest in gaining technical knowledge is important as GSL provides our clients with engineered valves, automated valves and custom solutions.
Valve technical knowledge is essential, and previous experience with another valve or actuator company in a sales environment is a great advantage.
Longer term, there is a commission structure and very good scope for salary increase.
