1. HV CABLE JOINTER
Position Title: HV Cable Jointer
Employment Type: Full-time (EBA Rates – Victorian Contracting)
Reports To: Project Supervisor / Site Foreman
Location: Victoria (Metro & Regional Projects)
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare, terminate, and joint HV cables up to 66kV (XLPE and PILC).
· Install and test terminations (indoor and outdoor) including heat shrink and cold shrink systems.
· Carry out HV jointing with various cable types (single core, multi-core).
· Perform cable pre-testing and phasing checks.
· Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS standards, safety regulations, and project specs.
· Work collaboratively with engineers, operators, and supervisors to meet deadlines.
· Maintain detailed job records, test sheets, and cable schedules.
Skills & Qualifications:
· Licensed A-Grade Electrician (VIC).
· Certified HV Cable Jointing & Termination Training (preferred manufacturer certifications: 3M, Tyco/TE, Pfisterer, Raychem).
· Minimum 3+ years of HV terminating experience.
· Valid driver's license and White Card.
· Ability to interpret HV schematics and cable schedules.
2. HV OPERATOR
Position Title: HV Operator
Employment Type: Full-time (EBA Rates – Victorian Contracting)
Reports To: HV Supervisor / Authorized Person
Location: Victoria (Site Based & Mobile Operations)
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate, switch, and isolate HV systems (up to 66kV) in accordance with network/operator permits.
· Assist in the preparation and execution of switching programs.
· Ensure safe work practices and compliance with electrical safety rules and permit- to-work systems.
· Carry out pre- and post-operation inspections and document reports.
· Liaise with Authorized Persons, Control Room Operators, and Contractors.
· Perform basic fault-finding and assist with HV testing and commissioning works.
Skills & Qualifications:
· Licensed A-Grade Electrician (VIC).
· HV Operator certification (e.g., switching course AS/NZS 4836 compliant).
· Previous experience operating in Zone Substations, Switchyards or Industrial HV environments.
· Experience with switching on private networks (highly desirable).
· Strong knowledge of HV switching procedures and network isolation.
3. TEST TECHNICIAN (HV TESTING)
Position Title: HV Test Technician
Employment Type: Full-time (EBA Rates – Victorian Contracting)
Reports To: Testing & Commissioning Manager / Project Manager
Location: Victoria (Site Based & Mobile Operations)
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform HV electrical testing including insulation resistance, VLF, Tan Delta, Partial Discharge, CT/VT, and relay testing.
· Operate test equipment (Omicron, Doble, Megger, etc.) to assess system performance and identify faults.
· Prepare detailed technical test reports and sign-offs.
· Assist with commissioning of HV assets (transformers, switchgear, cables).
· Interpret schematics, protection settings, and commissioning plans.
· Ensure test results comply with AS/NZS and client specifications.
Skills & Qualifications:
· A-Grade Electrician or relevant Electrical Engineering qualifications.
· Experience with HV testing and commissioning (minimum 2-3 years).
· Familiarity with test instruments and diagnostic software.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
· Excellent communication and documentation skills.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ROLES:
· EBA rates and allowances apply (RDOs, travel, site allowances, etc.).
· Compliance with all OHS, company, and site-specific policies.
· Willingness to work metro/regional VIC and occasional night shifts/weekends.
· Pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol screening required.
