About Parkville Youth Justice
Parkville Youth Justice Precinct is a youth custodial facility for children and young people aged 10 to 21 years. The primary health service is nurse-led, offering 24/7 nursing coverage. cohealth aims to deliver integrated health services including primary, allied, dental, and mental health care, tailored to the needs of young people in custody.
Role Overview
This is an identified position, open only to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants. The Health Worker will support young people from reception to release, building culturally safe relationships and reducing barriers to healthcare access. Responsibilities include:
* Engaging and building rapport with young people and staff
* Monitoring and documenting health needs and progress
* Referring and liaising with families and stakeholders
* Maintaining information systems and administrative procedures

Candidate Requirements
* Experience in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health, community development, or related sectors; lived experience highly valued
* Ability to work independently and in teams
* Understanding of the cultural and social needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
* Certificate III or higher in Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
