The role
We are seeking a senior leader to take on the high-profile position of Senior Director, Media and Digital within the Strategic Communications Branch (SCB) at Queensland Health. This pivotal role is a cornerstone of the SCB leadership team, responsible for steering the communications function for Queensland's public health system.
As the Senior Director, Media and Digital, you will oversee five high-performing teams, specialising in media, social media, creative services, online services, and digital transformation. You will act as the trusted advisor on communications strategy and media issues to the Minister, Director-General, executive leadership, and Health Service Chief Executives and Boards.
This role will see you leading the strategic direction of media and digital communications while proactively enhancing the reputation of Queensland Health and supporting the delivery of vital health services to Queenslanders. You will be instrumental in managing large-scale media and communications projects, fostering partnerships across the public health system and beyond, and providing expert advice on crisis management and significant media issues.
As a senior leader, you will mentor and inspire a multidisciplinary team of communications professionals, ensuring they deliver excellence in media, digital, creative, and online services. Your leadership will contribute to a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing culture, ensuring that Queensland Health remains at the forefront of contemporary communication practices.

You are a seasoned communications professional with a proven track record of leading large, multidisciplinary teams in highly complex and fast-paced environments. Your expertise in media and digital communications, paired with your ability to navigate public and political expectations, will enable you to provide strategic advice that is insightful, timely, and impactful.
Your ability to foster influential relationships across diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, Health Service Chief Executives, Boards, and the Minister, will be central to your success in this role. You thrive under pressure and excel in crisis management and confidently addressing significant media issues.
